The Root of Unhappiness

Living standards today are far better than they used to be a hundred years ago.

Why, then, do we find so many unhappy people?

There is a really simple and short answer to this. People who have everything and are still unhappy have a deep and subconscious narrative, below the level of awareness. It is:

Happiness lies in what we want and not in what we have.

Whereas, a happy person’s subconscious narrative is exactly the opposite:

Happiness is when you have all your needs covered, and you can happily chase what you want. You’ll remain happy even if you don’t get those “wants,” because you still have your needs covered and that should be enough to keep you happy.

If you have all your needs met and are still unhappy, you need to build a more correct narrative, that sinks in on a deep, subconscious level. Without a deep-level narrative change, chances are you’ll always be unhappy.

As long as we have our needs covered, our position of happiness should remain impervious, even when we don’t get what we want.
