Write Your Own Brag Sheet

There are phases in our lives when we don’t know where we currently stand, how far we have come, or how much further we need to go.

Phases when we frequently feel low, discouraged, disinterested, left out, or like we have “missed the bus.”

It happens to all of us at many points in our lives.

On the other hand, we also have many moments in our lives when we feel accomplished and truly happy. These “moments” might not be a continuous chain of accomplishments, but rather events that are scattered throughout our years.

One way to enjoy your accomplishments and find encouragement within them is by listing them out in a letter to yourself.

Write a letter to yourself not in one day, but over a period of time—list all the small and big achievements as you make them. Preserve this letter and keep adding to it whenever you achieve something good.

When you have phases of hardship, take out this letter and read it. The positive feelings that come from memories of your accomplishments, achievements, and successes can potentially zero out any negative mental narratives you may have accrued.

Start the habit of writing a letter to yourself.

A letter that is your own brag sheet.

We’ll all experience phases in our lives when we don’t feel good about ourselves, and feel lost about what and where we are.

That letter, that brag sheet, can be your key to the door that leads you back to your “proud and happy self.”
