If you know what you should do to move forward but have stalled because of a fear of following through, a simple solution lies in asking yourself the question: “Why should I go forward?”
If the “why” question doesn’t give you a strong reason, then maintaining the status quo is what you’re seeking.
Status quo means not moving forward; i.e., staying where you are. And, if you chose to be that way, you should be fine, as long as you knowingly want to stay still.
We all like the status quo—staying in our safe zones—so we won’t move forward unless we have a strong reason. The stronger the reason we have to move forward, the more likely it is that fear will become secondary.
To overcome fear, find a strong answer to: “Why do I need to go forward?”
