While transitioning from an individual role to a manager, your single most difficult hurdle would be to let go of the I.

When you move up. Let go of the I, and embrace we with a question (?)

  • How can we (as a team) write better code?
  • How can we design better?
  • How can we deliver better?
  • What would it take for the team to build this?
  • What can we do to solve X problem?

Let go of the I and let the we in.
