Decide When to Quit, Before You Begin

Don’t let anyone decide for you what you can and cannot do.

You have the power of choice. Make use of it.

Once you have made your choice, start preparing for the marathon of reaching your goal.

Have all the preparations done before you start running. Also decide when you’ll quit: factor in emotional and physical fatigue, and consider “time fatigue” as well. Know when you’ll realistically give in and call it off.

Having a clear exit plan is equally important before you start chasing an equally clear goal.

If you don’t have a predefined exit point, chances are, you will:

. . . quit too early without giving yourself a fair chance to succeed

. . . quit too late, disappointed and overly fatigued

. . . or keep chasing that one goal forever.

Before chasing a goal, always remember you have the power of choice. Make use of that choice—and decide beforehand when you’ll quit.
