If you’re at a juncture where you must choose between two jobs or business endeavors, here is a small piece of advice:
Choose the one that will make you cry if you revoke the offer.
Cry? How does that connect to making a choice?
Here, “what makes you cry” doesn’t mean crying because of an emotional attachment, but rather, an inner-self cry.
An inner-self cry happens only when you find a job or a business that you severely need or intensely desire.
For some, this cry might happen when they find a job that helps monetarily support themselves and their loved ones.
For some, the cry might be when they find their true calling.
For some others, it may be a job or business that is meaningful, purposeful, leverages the work they love, and maximizes their contributions to serve their customers or their audience.
Look for a true inner-cry if you want a meaningful shift in your career or work.
Otherwise, you’ll do what most people do, which is switch just for a change. But change isn’t permanent, so you might feel like switching again after a while.
Your inner-cry will help you decide if the choice you’re making is a “shallow” switch for change or a meaningful shift.
